Corporate Pension Solutions (CPS) is a division within M&G Life with a remit to design and deliver bulk purchase annuities and alternative de-risking products for Defined Benefit pension schemes. Due to ongoing success and a strong opportunity, the team is adding headcount in a number of areas.

The Pensions Technical Lead will act as the key SME within the broader CPS function, ensuring that the business area complies with all appropriate regulatory and legislative requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as a senior subject matter expert for CPS on all aspects of pensions regulation
  • Support CPS with technical guidance for BAU activities, general enquiries and projects
  • Review and sign off of scheme benefit specifications and policy documents
  • Participate in discussions where appropriate with pricing on bespoke benefit features
  • Participate in client discussions where appropriate
  • Act as key contact point for CPS in respect to regulatory change ensuring that any change is embedded with CPS appropriately
  • Provide input to regulatory and government consultations where relevant
  • Represent CPS within the broader Life business, including attending the M&G wide technical and regulatory change meetings
  • Act as key point of contact for GMP equalisation
  • Look to consider options for improving the CPS buy out proposition whilst considering the regulatory and legal impacts of any changes
  • Provide training to the broader CPS Business area where appropriate
  • Represent M&G on the ABI Risk Transfer Working Group quarterly meetings
Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
  • Excellent pension technical skills
  • Problem solving skills
  • Financial Services & Insurance knowledge, especially around defined benefit pension de-risking, with profits, reinsurance and investment solutions (including Defined Contribution investment solutions)
  • Experience of participating in regulatory change projects
  • Experience of training and mentoring team members
  • Passion for the customer
  • Effective written and presentation skills
  • High degree of honesty, integrity and discretion
