As Programme Manager, you will provide hands-on leadership for complex digital and marketing initiatives, ensuring seamless delivery of projects that enhance customer experience and strengthen our digital capabilities. You will lead a team of Project Managers, setting the standard for delivery excellence, fostering a culture of accountability, and championing the use of modern delivery tools. Acting as a trusted partner to senior stakeholders, you will translate strategic direction into tangible outcomes, with full ownership of delivery artefacts, governance, and reporting.

Key Responsibilities for this Role
  • Proven ability to lead complex business transformation programmes from initiation to benefits realisation, ensuring alignment with portfolio objectives and governance standards.
  • Experience engaging senior stakeholders up to Executive & Board level, is essential to build trust, and experience presenting updates in governance forums such as Steering Group is required.
  • Familiarity with digital channel optimisation, marketing data platforms, and customer engagement strategies.
  • Strong understanding of governance frameworks, RAID management, and risk mitigation strategies across multi-disciplinary teams and third-party dependencies.
  • Track record of working in fast-paced, agile environments, applying best practice methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, hybrid) and continuous improvement principles.
  • Line manage and develop Project Managers, providing day-to-day direction, coaching, and formal performance management.
  • Set the standard for delivery excellence, acting as a hands-on leader who resolves issues, removes blockers and drives progress.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, challenge and improvement within the delivery team.
  • Support benefits tracking and realisation in partnership with PMO and portfolio leadership, and champion the use of delivery tools to promote data-driven decision-making.
Key Skills & Experience

  • You are a collaborative leader who builds, motivates and supports high-performing, multi-disciplinary teams, while constructively challenging to achieve exceptional standards.
  • With a strong customer-centric approach, you align delivery to engagement and digital experience goals and continuously seek to learn, embracing new technologies and driving innovation in how change is delivered.
  • Proven experience as a Programme Manager or Senior Project Manager, with a track record of using your expertise delivering complex projects or programmes is essential for this role.
  • Experience leading and developing teams, with the ability to provide both day-to-day direction and formal line management.
  • Hands-on expertise in delivery methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, hybrid) and ability to coach others in best practice.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with confidence engaging both senior leaders, delivery teams and external third parties.
  • Relentless focus on delivery, execution, and “getting the job done, with strong delivery expertise across a range of project types.
  • Experience preparing and owning delivery artefacts and reporting for governance forums.
  • Proven ability to manage and collaborate with external partners and vendors to ensure successful delivery outcomes.
  • Proficiency with delivery tools, ideally Jira, is highly desirable.
  • Financial Services change experience is particularly Life & Pensions or Marketing & Digital Change is desirable, but not essential.
