Technical Service Manager – Smoke Control Department
Salary: £40,000 to £45,000 per year Plus KPI Bonus
Purpose of the Role
The Technical Service Manager for the Smoke Control Department is a pivotal role focused on driving the growth and success of the division. This includes providing technical expertise, supporting new enquiries and customers, and identifying opportunities to expand the business through cross-selling and strategic engagement with existing and prospective clients. The role also encompasses the delivery of high-quality service through meticulous project management, quoting, and ensuring compliance with safety standards, AOV understanding is a must have.
Key Responsibilities
1. Business Development
- Act as the primary technical support for new enquiries and potential customers.
- Proactively identify and engage with clients not currently using smoke control services, presenting tailored solutions to meet their needs.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients to encourage cross-selling opportunities.
- Conduct market research to identify growth opportunities within the smoke control sector.
2. Enquiry Handling and Quoting
- Manage incoming enquiries related to smoke control systems.
- Conduct site surveys to assess project requirements and develop accurate and competitive quotations.
- Prepare detailed proposals for remedial works identified during planned maintenance activities.
3. Project Management and Delivery
- Ensure that all projects are delivered to the highest standards, meeting client expectations and company objectives.
- Coordinate with internal teams and subcontractors to ensure the timely execution of works.
- Monitor project progress and address any issues or delays promptly.
4. Compliance and Documentation
- Ensure all Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) are uploaded and correctly assigned to relevant jobs.
- Maintain compliance with health and safety regulations and company policies.
- Oversee quality assurance processes to ensure all works meet regulatory and client standards.
5. Client and Stakeholder Communication
- Serve as the main point of contact for smoke control enquiries and projects.
- Provide technical advice and support to clients throughout the project lifecycle.
- Deliver clear and concise communication to both internal and external stakeholders.
6. Reporting and Analysis
- Track and report on division performance metrics, including revenue, enquiry conversion rates, and customer satisfaction.
- Provide insights and recommendations to senior management to inform strategic decisions.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Growth in revenue for the smoke control division.
- Conversion rate of enquiries to secured projects.

Working Conditions
- You will be in the office for onboarding and training for first week before moving on to being onsite meeting the team and shadowing a colleague for a few weeks.
- Your working arrangements will be hybrid but predominantly home based, visiting sites/surveys and attending the office 2-3 times a month. This will be reviewed at probation reviews.
