An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Shift Lead Engineer with an Electrical Bias to join a prestigious client based in the heart of the City of London on a temp-to-perm basis. We are seeking a highly motivated, self-sufficient, and technically skilled individual with strong leadership qualities and a proactive approach to facilities maintenance. This role offers the opportunity to work within a professional and experienced engineering team, delivering exceptional building maintenance services within a high-profile commercial environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support a team of engineers during shift operations.
- Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and Reactive Maintenance tasks.
- Respond to emergency callouts and critical incidents.
- Ensure all plant and building services are maintained to the highest standards.
- Manage and supervise subcontractors, ensuring compliance with site procedures and health & safety requirements.
- Review and approve permits, RAMS, and contractor documentation.
- Complete maintenance records, logbooks, and compliance documentation.
- Attend client meetings and provide technical support where required.
- Conduct emergency lighting testing and associated compliance checks.
- Maintain and troubleshoot UPS systems and associated control systems.
- Carry out electrical maintenance, including lighting, power, wiring, testing, fire alarm systems, BMS interfaces, and associated building services equipment.
- Support the management of building systems including HVAC and heat exchanger equipment.
Requirements
- City & Guilds Level 3 Electrical Qualification or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a Shift Lead or Senior Engineer position within a commercial building environment.
- Strong understanding of Building Management Systems (BMS).
- Experience with critical building services and electrical infrastructure.
- Ability to remain calm and make informed decisions under pressure.
- Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and client-facing abilities.
- Experience managing subcontractors and coordinating planned works.
- Good understanding of compliance procedures, RAMS, and permit systems.
- Flexible approach to working hours, including participation in shift patterns and call-out rotas where required.
