PRS are working with a growing Building Services design consultancy, based in Rochester (Kent), who are seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to lead and deliver electrical design solutions across a range of commercial, residential, hospitality, education, and mixed-use projects. This role suits an experienced engineer who combines strong technical capability with leadership, coordination, and client-facing skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the electrical design of building services projects from concept through to completion
- Produce and review detailed electrical designs, calculations, specifications, and reports
- Ensure designs comply with current regulations, standards, and best practice (BS 7671, CIBSE, IET, etc.)
- Coordinate with mechanical engineers, architects, structural engineers, and other stakeholders
- Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and design review support to junior engineers
- Attend client meetings, design team meetings, and site inspections as required
- Manage workloads, deadlines, and deliverables to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget
- Support project bids, fee proposals, and technical submissions where required
Requirements:
- Degree-qualified in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent)
- Significant experience in electrical design within a building services consultancy environment
- Strong knowledge of LV power, lighting, emergency lighting and fire alarms
- Experience leading projects and interfacing directly with clients and design teams
- Proficient in relevant software (e.g. Amtech, Dialux/Relux, AutoCAD, Revit MEP)
- Excellent communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills
- Working towards or holding Chartered Engineer status (CEng) is desirable
