Contract: Permanent, Full Time

Location: REMOTE. Based anywhere in the UK

Salary: up to 80K plus company car or cash allowance & benefits & performance bonus

PRS Engineering has engaged with a key client and a leading Industrial Cooling & Refrigeration specialist operating and delivering high value projects across the UK with headquarters based inLeicestershire. Due to team expansion and winning new projects, we are seeking a Project Manager with a background in Industrial Cooling Technologies &/or Industrial Refrigeration to support business requirements and oversee key projects. YOU MUST HAVE REFRIGERATION EXPERIENCE or similar such as HVAC. Advantageous if you also have experience/knowledge within ammonia (NH₃) & CO₂ systems.

Introduction

As a Project Manager within the Cooling Technologies Division, you will be responsible for overseeing the successful execution of large-scale industrial cooling projects from initiation to completion. Your role will focus on managing major industrial installations that require comprehensive cooling solutions for food manufacturing facilities, data centres, distribution centres, and other industrial environments.

The Industrial Cooling Division delivers high-value, large-scale refrigeration projects across a wide range of industrial sectors. We specialize in advanced systems using natural refrigerants such as Ammonia (NH₃) and CO₂, making this an exciting opportunity for an experienced Project Manager with strong technical and commercial acumen. In this role, you will oversee the full lifecycle of Industrial refrigeration projects. From concept and design through to commissioning and handover, ensuring the safe, efficient, and successful delivery of bespoke cooling solutions.

This position demands strong project management skills, deep technical knowledge in industrial cooling technologies, and the ability to effectively coordinate complex, high-value projects while communicating and collaborating with internal teams and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Project Planning & Delivery

  • Develop and execute comprehensive project plans aligned with client requirements and industrial best practice.
  • Work together with the Service managers to support the delivery of service projects works.
  • Define scope, objectives, deliverables, and milestones for large-scale refrigeration projects.
  • Coordinate extensive project resources, including specialized personnel, heavy equipment, and significant material volumes required
  • Monitor progress on complex, multi-phase projects, track critical milestones, and take necessary actions to mitigate risks and address issues in large-scale environments
  • Champion safe working practices across all project phases.

Team Leadership & Collaboration

  • Lead multidisciplinary project teams, fostering strong collaboration between engineering, design, installation, and commissioning functions.
  • Oversee subcontractor performance and ensure seamless integration with internal teams.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, knowledge sharing, and accountability.
  • Conduct regular coordination meetings for multi-disciplinary teams working on major industrial installations

Commercial & Financial Management

  • Monitor financial performance throughout the project lifecycle, controlling costs and identifying opportunities for efficiencies.
  • Work closely with commercial and finance teams to ensure timely invoicing, reporting, and contractual compliance.
  • Manage significant project budgets and collaborate with finance teams on high-value industrial contracts

Quality, Safety & Compliance

  • Uphold rigorous quality standards and ensure all deliverables meet regulatory and client specifications.
  • Drive adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations, particularly around ammonia and COâ‚‚ refrigeration systems.

Client Engagement & Relationship Management

  • Act as the key point of contact for clients, building trusted relationships and providing regular, transparent updates.
  • Manage client expectations effectively, resolving challenges and ensuring satisfaction throughout delivery.
  • Support business growth by identifying opportunities for repeat business and future industrial projects.

Requirements

  • Degree in Engineering or related discipline (advanced qualification desirable).
  • Proven track record managing large-scale industrial refrigeration projects, ideally with exposure to ammonia and/or large scale COâ‚‚ systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of refrigeration, HVAC, and industrial cooling technologies.
  • Strong project management skills, with experience in planning, risk management, resource allocation, and financial control.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Proficiency in project management software and reporting tools.
  • Familiarity with health, safety, and environmental regulations applicable to industrial refrigeration.
