An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Shift Lead Engineer with an Electrical Bias to join a prestigious client based in the heart of the City of London on a temp-to-perm basis. We are seeking a highly motivated, self-sufficient, and technically skilled individual with strong leadership qualities and a proactive approach to facilities maintenance. This role offers the opportunity to work within a professional and experienced engineering team, delivering exceptional building maintenance services within a high-profile commercial environment. Key Responsibilities Lead and support a team of engineers during shift operations. Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and Reactive Maintenance tasks. Respond to emergency callouts and critical incidents. Ensure all plant and building services are maintained to the highest standards. Manage and supervise subcontractors, ensuring compliance with site procedures and health & safety requirements. Review and approve permits, RAMS, and contractor documentation. Complete maintenance records, logbooks, and compliance documentation. Attend client meetings and provide technical support where required. Conduct emergency lighting testing and associated compliance checks. Maintain and troubleshoot UPS systems and associated control systems. Carry out electrical maintenance, including lighting, power, wiring, testing, fire alarm systems, BMS interfaces, and associated building services equipment. Support the management of building systems including HVAC and heat exchanger equipment.Requirements City & Guilds Level 3 Electrical Qualification or equivalent. Previous experience in a Shift Lead or Senior Engineer position within a commercial building environment. Strong understanding of Building Management Systems (BMS). Experience with critical building services and electrical infrastructure. Ability to remain calm and make informed decisions under pressure. Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving skills. Strong communication and client-facing abilities. Experience managing subcontractors and coordinating planned works. Good understanding of compliance procedures, RAMS, and permit systems. Flexible approach to working hours, including participation in shift patterns and call-out rotas where required.Package Competitive hourly rate with opportunity for permanent employment.
