About the Role

I am currently recruiting on behalf of a leading facilities management and engineering services provider for a Lead Technician to join a prestigious commercial and laboratory environment in West London.

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically qualified engineer looking to take the next step into a leadership role. The successful candidate will act as the site's technical lead, overseeing maintenance delivery, managing contractors and supporting day-to-day operations while ensuring the highest standards of safety, compliance, and service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary technical point of contact across the site.
  • Lead and manage all planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance activities.
  • Coordinate and oversee specialist subcontractors and service providers.
  • Ensure all works are completed in line with health, safety, environmental, and statutory compliance requirements.
  • Manage maintenance schedules, work orders, and asset information through CAFM systems.
  • Review maintenance reports and identify remedial works where required.
  • Source and procure materials, equipment, and replacement parts.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and drive maintenance best practices.
  • Produce quotations for minor works and project activities.
  • Respond to emergency situations and provide technical support as needed.
  • Carry out hands‑on maintenance activities when required, including covering for absences and critical works.

Requirements

  • Strong building services or multi-skilled engineering background.
  • Previous experience supervising maintenance activities within a commercial, scientific, healthcare, pharmaceutical, or critical environment.
  • Excellent knowledge of statutory compliance and planned maintenance programmes.
  • Experience using CAFM systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong organisational, planning, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage contractors and build effective client relationships.
  • Proven ability to lead by example and provide technical guidance to engineering teams.
  • LVAP qualification or experience.
  • L8/Water Hygiene knowledge.
  • Experience working within laboratory, research, or technically complex environments.
  • Understanding of SFG20 maintenance standards.

What's on Offer

  • Monday to Friday working pattern.
  • Overtime opportunities.
  • 24/7 call-out rota.
  • Career development within a prestigious, technically advanced environment.
  • Opportunity to work for a leading provider of facilities and engineering services.

This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced engineer seeking a leadership position where they can combine hands‑on technical expertise with responsibility for site operations, compliance, and service delivery.
