The Role

We are seeking a highly practical and operationally focused Electrical Engineering Manager to support and lead the management of critical M&E and HVAC infrastructure across a portfolio of mission critical Data Centres. This role is primarily operational in focus (circa 75%), requiring an individual with strong hands-on maintenance and operational management experience within critical environments. The successful candidate will lead by example, provide technical direction, and support the safe operation, maintenance, switching and reliability of critical electrical infrastructure. In addition to operational responsibilities, the role will also support construction and project delivery activities including witnessing, commissioning, snagging, testing and technical acceptance of new infrastructure and upgrades. You will act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) across electrical systems and critical infrastructure, interfacing with Operations teams, Design teams, OEMs, contractors and customers across the EMEA region. You will report to the Senior Electrical Engineering Manager – EMEA.

What You Will Do

  • Lead and support the operational management and maintenance of critical M&E and HVAC infrastructure across Data Centre environments
  • Provide hands-on technical leadership and act as a practical “lead by example” engineering presence within operational teams
  • Support electrical operations across UK and Western Europe (UK, Netherlands, Spain, France) with occasional Asia travel
  • Act as a senior escalation point for electrical, controls and critical infrastructure issues
  • Carry out and oversee HV switching operations and ensure safe systems of work are maintained at all times
  • Support and manage electrical safety compliance, procedures and authorisations across operational sites
  • Develop, review and approve SOPs, MOPs and EOPs within the CAB process
  • Author and maintain Electrical Safety Rules and ensure compliance with company standards and industry best practice
  • Support construction and infrastructure projects including snagging and quality inspections, witnessing and commissioning activities, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), technical reviews and operational readiness
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions and lessons learned
  • Manage and develop engineering teams, including workload planning, mentoring and technical development
  • Liaise with Operations, Design Consultants, OEMs, contractors and customers to ensure safe and efficient delivery of works
  • Ensure the highest levels of uptime, reliability, resilience and operational performance across critical infrastructure systems

What We Are Looking For

  • HNC/HND, Degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
  • Strong operational engineering background within Data Centres or other mission critical environments
  • Extensive experience managing and maintaining critical electrical and mechanical infrastructure including HV/MV/LV systems, UPS systems, standby generators, HVAC / cooling infrastructure, BMS/EMS and control systems
  • Previous HV Authorised Person / Authorising Engineer experience with practical switching knowledge essential
  • Previous authorisation and experience operating up to 11kV is essential
  • Strong practical understanding of electrical safe systems of work and operational procedures
  • Experience leading operational maintenance activities within live critical environments
  • Proven experience supporting construction, commissioning and project delivery activities
  • Experience of witnessing, testing, commissioning and snagging of critical infrastructure installations
  • Strong fault-finding and root cause analysis capability
  • Ability to lead teams and communicate effectively with operational and technical stakeholders
  • Customer-focused with strong stakeholder management skills
  • Experience developing operational procedures, safety documentation and engineering standards
  • CEng status or working towards desirable
  • Fluent English essential; additional European languages advantageous
  • Willingness to travel nationally and internationally (up to 25%)
