We’re looking for an experienced Production Maintenance Shift Engineer to join our established maintenance team at our Hatfield Head Office. This is a key role within the MHE (Material Handling Equipment) department, focused on keeping critical systems operating safely, reliably, and to the highest standards. This is a fully on-site role, working five days a week on a rotating shift pattern.
Shift Pattern:
- 06:00 – 14:00
- 14:00 – 22:00
The Role:
- You’ll be responsible for the maintenance, servicing, and reliability of automated material handling systems in a fast-paced operational environment.
- Key responsibilities include:
- Electrical maintenance of material handling equipment
- Fault finding and testing on PLC and three-phase systems
- Responding to breakdowns and completing planned maintenance activities
- Providing emergency response for critical equipment failures
- Maintaining machinery in line with agreed safety and performance standards
- Identifying, reporting, and rectifying defects promptly
- Supporting facilities and site activities when required
- Completing timesheets, maintenance documentation, and stock control
- Ordering consumables and managing associated administration
What We’re Looking For:
- Qualified, time-served technician with a strong electrical background
- Proven fault-finding experience in a production or operational environment
- PLC experience (advantageous but not essential)
- Experience maintaining automated material handling equipment or similar systems
- Self-motivated, flexible, and a strong team player
- Clear and effective communication skills
- Comfortable working at heights
- Strong practical understanding of health & safety requirements
- Health & Safety training or certification, including high-bay racking access and controlled descent rescue procedures
Qualifications:
- City & Guilds or BTEC in Electrical Engineering
- Basic mechanical skills
- Working knowledge of automated material handling equipment
