We are seeking an experienced and highly capable Lead Engineer to take ownership of engineering operations within a critical Data Centre environment. This role is central to ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and compliance of all building services systems supporting mission-critical infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and optimisation of critical building services systems, including HV/LV, UPS, generators, cooling (CRAC/CRAH), and BMS.
- Act as the technical authority on-site, providing leadership and guidance to engineering teams and subcontractors.
- Ensure 100% uptime of critical systems through robust maintenance strategies and rapid incident response.
- Develop and implement planned preventative maintenance (PPM) programmes and ensure adherence to SLAs/KPIs.
- Manage and coordinate emergency response procedures and root cause analysis for system failures.
- Oversee compliance with health & safety regulations, industry standards, and company policies.
- Support project delivery, upgrades, and commissioning activities within the data centre.
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders, clients, and vendors.
Requirements
- Proven experience in a Lead or Senior Engineering role within a critical environment (Data Centres, hospitals, or similar).
- Strong technical knowledge of electrical and mechanical building services systems.
- Recognised engineering qualification (e.g. HNC/HND/Degree or equivalent).
- Authorised Person (AP) or Senior Authorised Person (SAP) status (desirable).
- Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work under pressure in a high-availability environment.
