PRS Engineering has engaged with a new client, a world leading manufacturer of specialist ground support equipment (GSE) and specialised systems supporting Aviation & Aerospace Operations. This exciting business designs, develops, and manufactures market-leading aircraft vehicles and systems, delivering projects and equipment to the highest quality, performance, and reliability. Noticed by some of the world’s largest airports, oil companies, and military organisations.

A new opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a specialist and growing engineering division to assist with the production of new designs and modify and update existing designs by producing accurate technical drawings. This is an amazing opportunity to join a company with a global reputation that provides services to the aircraft industry.

The successful candidate will undertake design work on contracts based on analysis of specifications, producing accurate drawings and liaising with production, purchasing, and sales where necessary. Knowledge in a wide range of areas including 3D design, electronics, and PLC programming is required. The role will suit candidates from a design background, with a degree in mechanical, electrical, or electronic engineering (or equivalent). Experience using 3D AutoCAD (Inventor) or SolidWorks is essential, and any additional knowledge of electronics or PLCs would be advantageous; however, PLC programming training can be provided.

The successful candidate will be predominantly involved in the mechanical design of vehicles; however, the role will also involve electrical design. The candidate will be responsible for using AutoCAD to produce technical drawings and schematics for both new designs and new processes. You will be involved in testing the equipment and QA.

The role involves:

  • Design and detailing of Aircraft vehicles and associated equipment
  • Creation of engineering proposals
  • Generation of tender documents from customer specifications
  • Selection of components, compilation of BOMs and costings
  • Communication of preliminary designs to both Sales & Design
  • Preparation of 3D CAD data & 2D manufacturing drawings using Inventor & AutoCAD
  • Project management of contracts from concept through to delivery
  • Supervision of shop floor personnel

Must be eligible to work in the UK, no sponsorship available now or in the future. Must have full rights to work in the UK with no restrictions.
