Contract: Both Permanent & Contract opportunities, Full Time. Daventry, Northamptonshire (Hybrid, option of 1 day per week in the office). Salary: £40K - £60K depending on experience, plus benefits package. Contract positions outside IR35.

PRS Engineering has engaged with a new client and specialised Engineering/Manufacturing consultancy focusing primarily on industrial aftermarket, Service Lifecycle Management (SLM), Industrial IoT and Augmented Reality application in Service. A global partner with Siemens, providing Service Business Strategy consultancy and support, Industry 4.0 for Service, outsourced technical publications support and digital transformation to industries globally.

Overall, the business delivers technical publications for a range of leading automotive, aerospace, energy, rail, industrial, construction and agricultural manufacturing customers. Due to winning a new contract within the Energy industry, we require to hire a new team of Technical Authors to oversee this contract, delivering technical publications and content, in order to achieve greater efficiencies within service and manufacturing.

You must have experience or confidence in dealing with electrical and/or mechanical systems and other technical information. Flexible with the ability to multi-task, work proactively, independently and manage multiple projects is essential. A knowledge of XML, HTML, Microsoft programmes like Excel, Word, Project, Visio, PowerPoint, CAD modelling software and CMS systems is a distinct advantage. Technical Authoring competence or experience would be beneficial – we will provide training on all Technical Authoring software!

The Technical Author role is focused on one or more of the following workstreams:

  • 3D electrical and/or guided diagnostic information or flows
  • Text and illustration-based service communications
  • 2D CAD illustrated workshop manual and/or process engineering
  • 3D Illustrated Parts Catalogues

The author must undertake R&D, confirm requirements, interrogate technical data, drawings, diagrams, CAD models and other information. Liaise with engineers to confirm details and achieve sign-off, and liaise with customer representatives to manage project deadlines/expectations.
