About the opportunity
We are looking for a Cost Engineer to join our growing team in London at an exciting time, playing a key role in helping us achieve our ambitious growth targets. Supporting one of our key Construction clients in the region, you will be responsible for developing and implementing key procurement and commercial strategies across a range of projects in our business.
In this role you will:
- Feed into the Senior Cost Engineer and the Head of Estimating on the project to ensure consistency in cost planning & estimating approach set out by the client.
- Work closely with a Senior Cost Engineer or on your own to produce various cost planning & estimating documentation that can be assured both internally and externally.
- Provide assurance support to the wider estimating team to produce and develop the price, mentoring and supporting more junior members of the estimating team.
- Monitor and manage construction budgets through preconstruction including supporting change management.
- Provide quantification support during cost planning and estimating activities.
- Support preconstruction and delivery teams in periodically collating benchmarking data.
- Manage stakeholders to produce the Estimate e.g., planning, procurement etc.
- Present, negotiate and justify prices produced in an open and honest manner to both senior leaders within the business and/or external customers/partners.
About you
Essential
- Proficient in the use of Excel and similar software.
- Excellent client-facing/communications skills.
- Infrastructure Main Contractor background ideally in the Civil engineering market.
- Commercial or operational background considered.
Desirable
- Experienced estimating background using Candy Estimating Software.
- Experienced estimating background using RIB Cost X Quantification & Estimating Software.
- Experience of working with the AACE principles of Estimating Class and associated maturity.
- Mobile and flexible.
- Chartered by relevant industry-recognised chartership e.g., ICE, CICES, RICS, CIOB Etc.
