Contract: Permanent, Part-Time (21 hours/week, Monday–Wednesday)
Reporting to: Senior M&E Project Engineer
Location: Site-based at a major cultural and public venue in Central London
Main Purpose: This role is responsible for monitoring and inspecting construction, mechanical, and electrical (M&E) projects across a large, complex estate to ensure work is delivered safely, to specification, on time, and to a high standard of quality. Projects typically range from £50k to £5m and must be delivered with minimal disruption to day-to-day operations and public activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect and monitor M&E installation work on site.
- Ensure contractors comply with project specifications, standards and regulations.
- Review designs and specifications during project planning stage.
- Conduct site inspections, testing, commissioning and quality checks.
- Review contractor health and safety documentation (RAMS) and support audits.
- Record defects, snags, incidents and progress reports.
- Liaise between contractors, project engineers, project managers and internal stakeholders.
- Ensure accurate project records, as-built information and O&M manuals are maintained.
- Support project meetings and provide technical feedback.
Qualifications:
- Experience as a Clerk of Works within construction, building infrastructure or engineering projects.
- Good understanding of electrical and mechanical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
- Knowledge of UK Building Regulations, CDM 2015, BS 7671 (18th Edition), Health & Safety legislation (HSAW, EWAR, COSHH, etc.).
- Strong communication, reporting and organisational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Comfortable working at height and in confined space.
Desirable Qualifications / Experience:
- Lighting controls and DALI systems knowledge.
- IPAF, PASMA or Working at Height certification.
- ECS, CSCS, SSSTS or SMSTS cards.
- AutoCAD experience.
