Mission Critical Engineering Environment - Amazing opportunity. Must come from a Data Centre organisation / Engineering Consultancy / General Contractor or all of the above. This is a C suite position and someone capable of managing a team of European in-country senior individuals; not just about the Investment, the individual must have the gravitas and experience to operate across multiple regions. We’re hiring on behalf of a Positive Global Data Centre Organisation a Senior Director of Pre-Development to lead the strategy, coordination, and execution of site readiness across multiple high-impact, greenfield data centre projects. This is an enterprise-level leadership role with strategic influence across land banking, permitting, civil due diligence, and early-stage planning.
What the Successful Senior Director will be doing!
- Drive pan-European site acquisition and readiness strategies, from feasibility through to permitting and entitlement.
- Lead cross-functional collaboration with Real Estate, Power, Connectivity, Development, and Operations.
- Guide external relationships with regulators, agencies, and local authorities to ensure timely project approvals.
- Oversee investment governance and capital planning for new data centre sites.
- Establish scalable pre-development frameworks, standards, and documentation protocols.
- Serve as a senior voice within the business, translating development complexity into strategic clarity.
What Ideal Candidate should Look like and what we are looking For:
- 10+ years’ experience in commercial or infrastructure development.
- Proven track record in land acquisition, zoning, permitting, and early-stage delivery.
- 6+ years leading multi-disciplinary teams and senior stakeholders.
- Background in large-scale data centres, energy, industrial, or mission-critical environments.
- Strategic thinker with a hands-on ability to drive complex projects across multiple geographies.
- Excellent communicator, negotiator, and cross-functional leader.
Preferred Experience and Qualifications:
- Experience in Tier 1 data centre markets (e.g., London, Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Madrid, Milan, Dublin).
- Master’s degree in Real Estate, Engineering, Management, or Development.
- Familiarity with environmental regulation, civil infrastructure, and power planning.
- Comfortable engaging with both C-suite and government stakeholders.
