The Opportunity
Our client, a highly respected property managing agent, is seeking an experienced Building Services Manager to take ownership of the operational performance and maintenance strategy of a prestigious site in Milton Keynes.
This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong building services professional to join a client-side environment, overseeing the delivery of hard FM services, lifecycle planning, contractor management, and statutory compliance across a significant commercial asset.
Working closely with occupiers, service partners, and the wider property management team, you will play a key role in ensuring the building operates efficiently, safely, and to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day delivery of all hard services across the site, including M&E systems and associated infrastructure.
- Lead and monitor specialist contractors, ensuring performance, service delivery, and compliance with contractual obligations.
- Develop and implement planned preventative maintenance (PPM) programmes.
- Oversee statutory compliance activities, ensuring all building systems meet current legislation and industry standards.
- Manage building plant and equipment, identifying opportunities for improvement, efficiency, and risk reduction.
- Support the preparation and management of service charge budgets relating to engineering and maintenance activities.
- Drive sustainability and energy management initiatives across the property.
- Coordinate lifecycle projects, refurbishments, and capital works from planning through to completion.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure operational excellence and compliance.
- Act as a key point of contact for occupiers, responding to technical queries and ensuring exceptional customer service.
- Produce technical reports, asset condition assessments, and performance data for senior stakeholders.
About You
We are looking for a proactive and commercially aware building services professional who has experience operating within commercial property, managing agents, FM providers, or client-side environments.
You will ideally possess:
- Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical building services.
- Experience managing hard FM contracts and specialist service providers.
- Sound understanding of health & safety and statutory compliance requirements.
- Experience working within commercial office, mixed-use, business park, or large-scale property environments.
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and build effective working relationships.
- Strong budgeting, reporting, and project management skills.
- Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
Qualifications
Ideally candidates will hold one or more of the following:
- HNC/HND or Degree in Building Services Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline.
- IOSH or NEBOSH qualification.
- Membership of CIBSE, IET, IWFM, or similar professional body (desirable).
