Purpose of the Role: The Calibration Technician will play a vital role in providing comprehensive calibration and instrumentation expertise. Initially, the role involves collaborating with the principal contractor, creating documentation, and supporting the client with Calibration and Instrumentation requirements. Once the client campus is fully operational, the focus will shift to day-to-day service delivery, ensuring the maintenance of critical test equipment, coordinating with third-party suppliers, and optimizing system availability.
Key Responsibilities
- Delivery of comprehensive Control and Instrumentation services across the entire site.
- Create and maintain site calibration procedures and maintenance plans.
- Define equipment tolerances for plant systems.
- Identify required test equipment and space needs for calibration work.
- Ensure maximum availability of plant and user equipment through effective planned maintenance.
- Provide technical expertise for projects, commissioning, and handover activities.
- Perform planned preventative maintenance and client-requested calibrations.
- Identify and resolve field instrument issues, including planning and completing remedial work.
- Recognize spares requirements, place orders, and manage stock levels.
- Ensure test equipment is sent to third-party suppliers in line with CMMS schedules.
- Initiate and receive Permits to Work in accordance with site procedures.
- Lead the generation of RCA reports and A3 investigations.
- Provide cross-account support when required, collaborating with different teams.
- Ensure all work orders are completed within contract metric timelines.
Accountabilities
- Reports directly to the Systems Manager and collaborates with the site management team as required.
- No direct staff reports or budgetary responsibility, but financial awareness is essential.
Person Specification
Education
- Good basic education with proficiency in written and spoken English and basic mathematical skills.
Training
- Formal Apprenticeship in Calibration and Instrumentation.
- HNC/HND Level qualification in a relevant engineering field.
- cGXP Training (current Good X Practice β e.g., manufacturing, laboratory).
Experience (Essential)
- Minimum of 3 yearsβ experience in Calibration Maintenance within a regulated industry (e.g., pharmaceutical, food processing).
- Proven experience in writing calibration procedures.
Aptitudes
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent IT literacy and proficiency with CMMS systems.
