We are seeking several ambitious and driven Data Centre Engineering Shift Managers to join our growing Data Centre Operations team on a newly built state of the art facility. The Position
As an Data Centre Engineering Shift Manager, you’ll be the technical and operational leader on site, driving performance, reliability, and safety across your shift. You’ll oversee all maintenance activities, ensure critical systems uptime, and lead a high-performing team of engineers to deliver exceptional standards in a 24/7 live environment. This role is all about leadership, accountability, and innovation— keeping critical infrastructure running while mentoring the next generation of data centre engineers.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Lead and inspire a team of shift engineers, ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.
- Oversee all planned and reactive maintenance activities across electrical, mechanical, and control systems.
- Act as an Authorised Person (HV), maintaining a safe system of work and ensuring all compliance documentation is in place.
- Respond rapidly and effectively to real-time incidents and alarms, ensuring minimal downtime and clear communication.
- Manage Permit to Work systems, review RAMS, and uphold the highest safety and operational standards.
- Drive continuous improvement across the site — optimising performance, energy efficiency, and reliability.
- Mentor and develop your team, delivering technical training, toolbox talks, and professional growth opportunities.
- Represent the operations team with professionalism and technical authority in all client and vendor interactions.
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience as an Engineering Shift Manager or Supervisor within Data centre or mission-critical operations.
- Strong technical background with High Voltage Authorisation.
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in electrical or mechanical engineering.
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations and Emergency First Aid at Work certification.
- Demonstrable experience managing real-time incidents and coordinating engineering teams under pressure.
- A proactive approach to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
