Are you an experienced M&E Engineering Supervisor, Shift Leader or Engineering Manager looking for your next challenge within a critical environment?

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a leading Facilities Management provider as an M&E Shift Engineering Leader, working within a high-profile, mission-critical data centre in Docklands.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced engineering leader with a strong technical background to take responsibility for the day-to-day operation, maintenance and performance of critical M&E infrastructure.

You will lead a team of engineers and work closely with the client, subcontractors and wider facilities management team to ensure the data centre remains safe, compliant, resilient and fully operational 24/7.

Previous experience in a data centre, critical power environment, banking, pharmaceutical, healthcare or similar mission-critical facility would be highly advantageous.

Package: £65,000 basic salary + £6,000 shift allowance (£71,000 total package).

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise a team of shift engineers.
  • Oversee subcontractors and specialist contractors working on site.
  • Organise and manage all planned preventative and reactive maintenance.
  • Ensure critical M&E systems are maintained to the highest standards.
  • Lead a multi-skilled engineering team across electrical and mechanical disciplines.
  • Monitor and maintain critical infrastructure including UPS, generators, LV/HV systems, HVAC, BMS and associated plant.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities are completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with site procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety, statutory and client requirements.
  • Review and maintain accurate maintenance records, logbooks, permits and RAMS.
  • Maintain plant rooms and engineering areas to a high standard of cleanliness and operational efficiency.
  • Coordinate reactive maintenance and ensure faults are responded to and escalated appropriately.
  • Support fault-finding and technical problem-solving across critical M&E systems.
  • Oversee minor works, upgrades and improvement projects.
  • Attend client meetings and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Manage external contractors and ensure works are completed in line with agreed standards.
  • Assist with emergency response and critical incident procedures.
  • Ensure site engineering standards and operational procedures are consistently followed.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across the data centre.

Requirements

  • Recognised electrical qualification such as City & Guilds Level 2 & 3 / Parts 1 & 2, or equivalent.
  • 17th or 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
  • Proven supervisory or engineering leadership experience.
  • Strong M&E knowledge within commercial buildings or critical environments.
  • Previous experience working within a data centre or other mission-critical environment is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of UPS, generators, power distribution, HV/LV systems, HVAC and BMS.
  • HV certification is desirable but not essential.
  • Approved apprenticeship or equivalent experience within Building Services.
  • Strong understanding of PPM and reactive maintenance.
  • Good knowledge of health & safety procedures and compliance.
  • Experience managing subcontractors and specialist contractors.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure within a 24/7 critical environment.
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to develop technical knowledge and progress within the role.
