We are seeking a proactive and hands-on Electrical Engineer for a contract role based in Bristol. This position combines electrical engineering expertise with responsibility for maintaining and improving site facilities. You will support the design, testing, installation, and maintenance of electrical systems while ensuring the safe and efficient operation of building services and infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and support the manufacture and installation of electrical equipment, including machinery controls, wiring, and lighting systems.
- Produce engineering drawings and read and interpret technical blueprints and specifications.
- Evaluate the cost-effectiveness, reliability, and safety of electrical designs and systems.
- Estimate project timelines and costs for electrical and facilities-related projects.
- Simulate and test the operation of machines, systems, and building services.
- Support and oversee electrical maintenance within the facility, ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards.
- Coordinate with external contractors, suppliers, and vendors for facilities and electrical works.
- Investigate and assess vendor and competitor products and solutions.
- Support facilities management activities to maintain a safe, efficient, and well-managed working environment.
Skills and Experience
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and creative thinking skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Detail-oriented team player with a proactive approach.
- Ability to create sketches, engineering drawings, and perform standard engineering calculations.
- Ability to carry out detailed electrical calculations and apply electrical theory to practical engineering projects.

- Facilities management or building services experience is advantageous.
Education & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical or related discipline) required.
- 2–4 years of relevant experience in electrical engineering and/or facilities management.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng) license is not required for this role.
