Overview
As an Electrical Engineering Manager or Senior Engineer, you will be part of our Central Engineering or lead a group of Electrical Engineers. As subject matter experts (SME’s), your team and you will be responsible for all electrical systems in your area of responsibility. You will be acting as an interface to our Data Centre Operations, Design teams, OEMs, and to our customers. Authoring and deploying Electrical Safety Rules will be part of your remit, along with ensuring the highest levels of efficiency and reliability, and securing the delivery to the highest standard. You will be reporting to the Senior Electrical Engineer – EMEA.
What you will do
- Responsible for the management and development in Electrical Engineering in the UK and Western Europe (UK, Netherlands, Spain, France).
- Managing, developing, and expanding the Electrical Engineering Team, including workload management.
- Ensure time management and quality delivery from different stakeholders.
- Client-oriented, strong stakeholder management, providing frequent updates (externally, internally) to ensure continuous clarity.
- Conduct thorough root-cause analysis and implement lessons learned to drive continuous improvement.
- Involvement in training development for electrical systems, ensuring adherence to company standards and regional requirements.
- Acting as 2nd and 3rd level escalation for electrical and control issues.
- Provide SOP/EOP development, approve drafts, and provide approvals for MOP, SOP, and EOP within the CAB process.
- Responsibility for managing and writing electrical safety rules for the area of responsibility, ensuring the electrical safety and harmonization through the company standards.
- Serve as a sparring partner for Design, External Consultants, and OEMs, leveraging strong technical expertise to ensure effective collaboration and innovative solutions.
What we are looking for
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, HND, HNC, or a related field such as other mission-critical engineering environments.
- Proven leadership experience in managing a team of electrical engineers and apprentices.
- Experienced in leading a technical function within a mission-critical environment, and being very customer-facing and focused.
- Extensive electrical engineering, maintenance, commissioning and safety standards experience in a Data Centre or other mission critical sector is essential.
- Previous experience as a High Voltage Authorising Engineer (HV AE).
- Detailed technical knowledge of the type of large-scale electrical systems, including HV, LV, UPS, Standby Power and related electrical systems and BMS/EMS and control systems.
- Proficient knowledge in discrimination, short circuit and arc flash studies is desirable.
- Proven track record of electrical optimization and efficiency improvements, preferably in Data Centres.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Ability to conduct root-cause analysis and implement lessons learned.
- Experience in developing and delivering training programs.
- Familiarity with SOP/EOP development and the CAB process.
- Ability to act as an escalation point for complex electrical and control issues.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
- C Eng Status or being in progress to achieve.
- Fluent in English; additional languages relevant to the region (e.g., Dutch, Spanish, French, German) are a plus.
- Willingness to travel regularly nationally and internationally (up to 25%).
