Overview

Music wouldn't exist without the work of songwriters, composers and publishers. We're here to represent them and make sure that they are paid for their work. After more than a century in the industry, we continue to innovate as a world‑leading organisation.

The Role

We are looking for an individual on a 6‑month fixed‑term contract to lead Accounts Payable activity, deliver an effective handover from the incumbent manager, and ensure clear desk procedures are documented and embedded across the team. The role will capture key knowledge, clarify responsibilities and deadlines, and support continuity of service during the transition.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day‑to‑day leadership for Accounts Payable, ensuring accurate, timely processing and a strong customer/service culture.
  • Plan and execute a structured handover from the incumbent manager, capturing key knowledge, contacts, recurring deadlines, open issues and areas requiring ongoing management attention.
  • Create and maintain clear desk procedures for core Accounts Payable activities, including supplier set‑up, invoice processing, approval workflows, payment runs, query management, reconciliations and month‑end routines.
  • Document ownership, hand‑offs, approval requirements, escalation routes, key controls and critical cut‑off dates so that responsibilities are clear across the team.
  • Ensure Accounts Payable procedures are practical, easy to follow, consistently formatted and accessible to team members and relevant stakeholders.
  • Support the team in adopting the documented procedures, providing coaching and guidance where needed to embed consistent ways of working.
  • Maintain continuity of Accounts Payable service during the transition, ensuring payment deadlines, supplier queries, reconciliations and month‑end activities remain on track.
  • Engage with stakeholders including Finance, Procurement, budget holders, system owners, suppliers and service providers to clarify processes, resolve queries and ensure the procedures reflect current practice.

About you

  • Proven experience managing Accounts Payable operations, including supervision of a small team and delivery to deadlines.
  • Strong working knowledge of Accounts Payable processes, controls and reconciliations, including approvals, supplier master data, payment controls and month‑end routines.
  • Experience completing structured handovers, capturing operational knowledge and translating it into clear desk procedures, SOPs or work instructions.
  • Ability to write clear, practical procedures that are easy for team members to follow and keep up to date.
  • Systems savvy with strong Excel skills; able to work confidently with finance systems, invoice workflows, payment processes and reporting tools.
  • Excellent stakeholder management across Finance, Procurement, budget holders, suppliers and system/service providers, with clear, confident communication and a service mindset.
  • Relevant accounting qualification, such as AAT or part‑qualified/qualified by experience, preferred.
  • Experience with CODA, Concur or similar finance and invoice workflow systems would be a benefit.

What’s in it for you?

  • We trust, value, and support our people to make the difference.
  • We believe that diversity of thought and experience provides the platform for innovation and creativity.
  • We are consciously inclusive and have eight Affinity Groups which you can join and make an impact.
  • We invest in the development of our people to drive our ambitions forward.
  • We offer a range of family‑friendly leave including enhanced maternity and paternity, grandparent, fertility, reproductive and menopause support.
  • We know time to rest and recharge is important which is why we offer 25 days holiday entitlement with the option to top up twice annually up to a maximum of 30 days.
  • Employees can work from anywhere in the world for up to eight weeks of the year.
  • Plus a whole range of other benefits, including retail discounts, gym discounts, season ticket or bicycle loan.
