Proximity Futures Ltd - GEO-Sense footfall analytics
Hinckley, Leicestershire · Hybrid, 2 days in the office · Full-time, permanent · £29,500 basic + uncapped commission (OTE c. £42,000)
What We Do
We measure how many people visit a place. Town centres, retail centres, outdoor advertising, theme parks and events all use our GEO-Sense system to find out how many visitors they get, how long they stay and how they move around once they are there.
We design and manage the sensors in house, survey and install them ourselves, and support them with our own engineers. Alongside footfall we run car park reporting and public WiFi solutions, but footfall is the focus and the part of the business we are growing.
Most of our customers today are in the public sector. The opportunity - and the reason this role exists, is in the sectors above, where we are starting close to a standing start.
Who We Are
Small, technical and direct. Because we build and support everything ourselves, the person who can answer a hard question about a customer's data works here rather than at a supplier, which makes the job considerably easier to do well.
We care about getting things right more than getting them out fast, and we do not treat long hours as evidence of commitment. We would rather people worked with focus during the day and then went home.
The main thing to understand is the size. There is no layer between you and the effect of your work, no committee to hide behind, and no waiting six months for a decision. If that appeals, it suits very well. If you want the structure of a large organisation, it will not.
The Role
We are bringing lead generation in house. Historically most of our customers have come from the public sector; we are now going after commercial buyers - retail centres and landlords, outdoor advertising and media owners, and event operators - and we need someone to open those doors.
This is an outbound role. You find the right people, work out whether there is a genuine opportunity there, and book the meeting. Our Sales Manager runs the demo and closes the deal - that is deliberate, and it is reflected in how you are measured and paid. You are rewarded for the quality of the opportunities you create, not held responsible for a close you do not control.
What You Will Be Doing
- Calling and writing to centre managers, asset and property managers, media owners and event directors.
- Building the target list yourself. This is not a role where you will always work through a bought spreadsheet - you will use LinkedIn Sales Navigator and public sources to find the right organisations and the right people inside them, and keep that data clean. It is roughly a third of the job.
- Qualifying properly against a defined checklist: is there a real use case, a budget holder, and a route to purchase?
- Finding out who their current provider is and when that contract ends - then being in the conversation before it does.
- Keeping Zoho CRM accurate and booking meetings into the Sales Manager’s diary with the full picture attached.
What We Are Looking For
- At least two years in outbound B2B sales, lead generation or appointment setting - ideally on a considered purchase rather than a transactional one.
- Confident on the phone and resilient when it goes badly, which some days it will.
- A good researcher. You should enjoy working out who actually owns a shopping centre and who runs it day to day.
- Curious enough to ask about budget and procurement without getting awkward about it.
- Organised with a CRM. If you do not log it, it did not happen.
- Useful but not essential: experience in retail property, shopping centres, out-of-home advertising, events or venues, or a background selling data, analytics or SaaS.
What You Get
- £29,500 basic, with on-target earnings of around £42,000 and no cap.
- £100 per qualified appointment from the fifth each month, paid monthly - so good months’ pay out quickly rather than in a year’s time.
- 6% of first-year gross profit on every deal you originate.
- No commission cliff. Our contracts can take a long time to land, and some prospects are locked into an existing provider for years. If you keep an account warm and it signs two years later, it is still yours.
- Hybrid working - two days a week in the office.
- The tools to do it properly - LinkedIn Sales Navigator, a contact data platform, Zoho CRM and a business mobile.
- Holiday and pension: 21 days plus bank holidays, and employer pension contributions.
- A route forward. This is not a permanent seat on the phones. The intended path is towards running discovery calls and then closing, with a commission scheme to match.
