We are looking for an experienced developer to be an essential part of our core platform team. You will be working predominantly on the technology that powers the entire business. All of our customer facing products are built on top of this platform and as such is not only critical, it also needs to be designed and built to be flexible, scalable and allow for agile delivery. Engineering experience is crucial to this role and the success of the team.

Things you will need to have:

  • 5 years+ experience working on large scale website projects
  • Experience in building platforms on top of lightweight MVC frameworks (or from scratch)
  • Experience in PHP7, HTML, CSS, Java
  • Demonstrable understanding of Service Oriented Architecture
  • Excellent understanding, and passion for, Test Driven methodologies
  • Solid understanding of API driven environments and potential vulnerabilities of such
  • Good knowledge working with SQL environments (specifically mySQL & derivatives. Sybase experience would be a massive plus)
  • Understanding of multi layered caching including CDN
  • Previously working experience with magic quadrant vendors such as Fastly / Cloudfront would be a serious advantage
  • Demonstrable knowledge of cloud deployments and deployment / integration pipelines

It would be great if you also had:

  • Proven record of technical and team leadership
  • Experience working with Sybase DBMS
  • Past experience with Enterprise Service Bus / Message Bus deployments (Kafka/Kinesis/Firehose)
  • Working knowledge of Data warehousing, machine learning would be beneficial (Hadoop, Amazon ML)
  • Previous working knowledge / experience of push messaging (websockets etc)
  • Previous experience with Spark (pySpark) / ETL / real time streaming data processing would be advantageous
  • C++ experience at any level
