YOUR IMPACT
Take ownership of integrating our high‑temperature superconductor (HTS) stellarator magnet technology into the design of Proxima’s net‑energy stellarator, Alpha. This role demands systems thinking, simulation, modeling, technical judgment, and the ability to make impactful design decisions when there is no obvious “right” answer. Responsibilities include developing conceptual designs for first‑of‑a‑kind electrical, cooling, and protection system solutions.
What You Will Do
- Engineer the magnet sub‑system of the Alpha stellarator, using Proxima’s magnet technology and developing protection and support systems.
- Collaborate closely with other system leads to ensure alignment and cohesion across the Alpha concept design.
- Own magnet system integration challenges, such as neutronics considerations and field‑quality requirements.
- Coordinate and execute the integrated Alpha magnet system using analytical models, high‑fidelity simulations, and first‑principles reasoning.
- Act as key stakeholder for Proxima’s Stellarator Model Coil, ensuring the prototype magnet informs Alpha’s design.
Who You Are
- Recognized expertise in superconducting magnets, high‑power electrical engineering, or integrated fusion reactor design.
- Proven track record in systems design or leading complex engineering efforts at the subsystem or system level, including conceptual design development and reduced‑order analysis.
- Comfortable operating in ambiguous environments, making informed decisions with limited data, and managing trade‑offs among competing requirements.
- Experience validating first‑of‑a‑kind designs through multi‑scale and multi‑physics simulations, testing, and prototyping.
- Demonstrated ability to work within multidisciplinary technical teams in fast‑paced, dynamic settings.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, articulating complex technical concepts clearly and persuasively.
INTERVIEW PROCESS
- Recruiter Interview (30‑60 min).
- Technical Screening (30 min).
- Technical Panel (3Ă—60 min).
