Provost Veterinary Group is seeking a dedicated Veterinary Surgeon to join our friendly and supportive team in St Andrews on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract to cover maternity leave. This varied role involves a balance of consultations and surgical procedures, providing excellent opportunities to deliver high‑quality patient care within an experienced team.

Rota patterns that work for you

Our people are at the heart of everything we do – that’s why we know that work‑life balance is vital in supporting our people to be their best selves. Our flexible approach to rota patterns and working hours offers a balance that truly flexes with you and your lifestyle no matter what stage you are in your career. The full‑time rota would include 40 hours over 4 or 5 days per week, 1 duty shift which could be 9 am–7 pm (no out of hours), and 1 in 5 Saturday morning share.

Our modern, purpose‑built surgery is located in the beautiful seaside town of St Andrews with 2 branches in the local area. The practice is well‑equipped with high‑standard facilities including 2 surgical theatres, a dental suite, digital and dental X‑ray, endoscopy, an Imotek ultrasound machine and an in‑house lab. We have designated cat, dog and isolation wards and we are proud to be a Cat Friendly Clinic. Further certification and career progression can be supported. Our current team consists of 6 veterinarians, 6 RVNs and 7 support staff. Should you have a niche area of expertise we would welcome this opportunity – we fully support and fund further qualifications and certificates and offer full support and guidance.

St. Andrews is a seaside town northeast of Edinburgh, on Scotland’s east coast. It is known for its many golf courses, including the Old Course, its historic university, medieval streets, and gorgeous traditional buildings. The town is filled with exciting things to see and do, from St Andrews Cathedral to nearby Scotland’s Secret Bunker, so you won’t be short on places to visit. Located half an hour from Dundee and less than two hours from Edinburgh & Glasgow.
