We’re partnering with a growing WealthTech business building a modern platform used by financial advisers within the UK wealth ecosystem. The business is scaling following significant investment in its technology platform and product suite. They’re now hiring an Engineering Manager to lead a growing engineering team and help shape the next phase of their evolutions. This role sits between a highly technical Tech Lead and a traditional Engineering Manager. It is ideal for someone who still enjoys being close to architecture, engineering standards, delivery, and technical decision-making, while also leading engineers, improving ways of working, and helping scale and formalise a strong engineering culture.
You’ll lead a small but growing engineering team, owning:
- Engineering leadership and team development
- Sprint delivery and SDLC improvements
- Engineering standards and release processes
- The relationship between Product and Engineering
- CI/CD and modern engineering practices
- Technical leadership alongside senior/principal engineers
This is not a pure people-management role. The business needs someone with the technical credibility to challenge estimates, guide architectural discussions, and earn the respect of experienced engineers. You’ll work closely with senior leadership and have genuine influence over how engineering evolves as the company scales.
Technology Environment
- .NET / C#
- Azure
- React / TypeScript
- GitHub-based CI/CD workflows
The team is also actively exploring AI engineering practices and modern delivery tooling.
What They’re Looking For
- Experience leading or managing software engineers
- Strong Microsoft-stack technical background
- A hands-on understanding of SDLC, CI/CD, delivery, and engineering standards
- Experience operating in agile product environments
- The ability to bridge product conversations into engineering
- A pragmatic approach suited to a scaling SME environment
- Confidence engaging with senior technical and business stakeholders
Experience within fintech, wealth management, SaaS, or regulated environments would be beneficial but is not essential.
Why This Role?
- Profitable and scaling WealthTech business
- Modern engineering environment
- Strong technical leadership already in place
- Genuine influence on engineering direction
- Clear progression path as the team grows
- Hybrid working with a collaborative engineering culture
Location
Hybrid role with regular onsite collaboration in Edinburgh (typically two days per week).
Package
- £80,000-£90,000 base salary
- Equity/share options
- Strong long-term progression opportunity
- High-impact leadership role within a scaling product business
