Location: Multi-site role between Ballygawley and Omagh

Reporting To: Managing Director

Job Purpose: The Production Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, management, and performance of manufacturing operations across two production sites. The role has full accountability for the manufacture of bulk materials and the production of finished goods, ensuring products are delivered safely, on time, to specification, and within budget. The successful candidate will oversee production planning and scheduling, purchasing, stores and inventory management, engineering and maintenance, and personnel management. They will ensure that all materials, resources, equipment, and labour are available to meet production requirements while driving continuous improvement, operational efficiency, quality, and customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operations Management: Lead all manufacturing and operational activities across both production sites. Develop and implement operational strategies that support business objectives and growth plans. Ensure effective communication and coordination between all operational departments. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve productivity, efficiency, quality, and profitability. Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement corrective actions where necessary. Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Production Planning & Scheduling: Develop and manage production schedules to ensure customer orders are delivered on time and in full. Plan manufacturing activities to maximise capacity, efficiency, and resource utilisation across both sites. Coordinate production priorities based on customer demand, stock levels, and business requirements. Monitor production performance and adjust schedules to meet changing operational requirements. Identify and resolve production constraints and bottlenecks. Ensure all departments are aligned to production plans and delivery commitments.
  • Materials Planning, Purchasing & Procurement: Ensure all raw materials, packaging, consumables, and components are available to support production schedules. Manage purchasing activities in conjunction with the Production Co-ordinator. Monitor supplier performance and take action to resolve supply issues. Work closely with suppliers to minimise lead times and improve service levels.
  • Stores & Inventory Management: Manage inventory and warehouse operations across both sites. Maintain accurate stock control systems and inventory records. Optimise stock levels while ensuring production requirements are met. Minimise stock losses, obsolescence, and waste. Ensure efficient storage, handling, and movement of materials throughout the operation.
  • Manufacturing & Production Management: Oversee the manufacture of bulk materials and the production of all finished goods. Ensure production targets, quality standards, and delivery schedules are achieved. Monitor production efficiency and implement improvements where required. Ensure products are manufactured in accordance with customer specifications and quality requirements. Drive lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Engineering & Maintenance: Manage engineering and maintenance activities to maximise equipment reliability and uptime. Implement preventative maintenance programmes. Ensure machinery, equipment, and facilities are maintained to a high standard. Lead capital expenditure projects and operational improvement initiatives. Ensure compliance with statutory maintenance and inspection requirements.
  • People Management: Lead, manage, and develop operational teams across both sites. Recruit, train, coach, and develop employees to maximise performance and engagement. Conduct performance reviews and establish clear objectives and expectations. Manage employee relations issues in accordance with company policies and employment legislation. Promote a positive culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Health, Safety, Quality & Environmental Management: Promote a strong health and safety culture across both sites in conjunction with the Health & Safety Manager. Ensure compliance with all health, safety, environmental, and quality standards. Conduct risk assessments and ensure appropriate control measures are implemented. Lead investigations into incidents and implement corrective actions. Support and maintain quality management systems and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Site Maintenance & Facilities Management: Oversee the general upkeep and presentation of both production sites, ensuring buildings and external areas are maintained to a safe, clean, and professional standard. Coordinate routine maintenance activities, including window cleaning, pressure washing, grounds maintenance, waste management, and building repairs. Conduct regular site inspections to identify maintenance requirements and implement corrective actions as required.

Experience & Qualifications:

Essential: Minimum of 5 years' experience in a senior manufacturing, production, or operations management role. Proven experience managing multi-functional manufacturing operations. Strong knowledge of production planning and scheduling. Experience managing purchasing, inventory control, engineering, and production functions. Demonstrated success in delivering operational improvements and cost reductions. Excellent leadership and people management skills. Strong organisational, planning, and problem-solving abilities. Commercial awareness and financial understanding.

Desirable: Degree or professional qualification in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, Supply Chain, or a related discipline. Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement experience. Health and safety experience. Experience operating across multiple manufacturing sites.
