Teaching Assistant Alternative Provision / Specialist Education Setting

Full-Time | Term Time + Training Days

£22,000 – £33,000 per annum DOE

We are currently exclusively partnering with an organisation providing Alternative Provision into various settings across the Midlands. This is more than just a classroom support role; it’s an opportunity to positively impact the lives of young people who require additional support to thrive in education.

We’re looking for resilient, proactive, and compassionate individuals who can build genuine relationships with learners while helping to create a safe, engaging, and structured learning environment. This role is all about being able to break down barriers and be relatable to learners.

As part of this role, my client will support you through your HLTA Qualification.

The Role

  • Working closely with teaching staff and senior leaders, you’ll support learners both inside and outside the classroom, helping them develop academically, emotionally, and socially.
  • You’ll play a key role in:
    • Supporting learners on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
    • Promoting engagement, attendance, and positive behaviour
    • Supporting emotional regulation and pastoral wellbeing
    • Assisting with classroom delivery and learning activities
    • Helping create a calm, inclusive, and structured environment
    • Supporting educational visits and enrichment activities
    • Maintaining safeguarding and learner welfare standards
    • Building positive, consistent relationships with young people

What We’re Looking For

  • Essential:
    • Teaching Assistant qualification
    • Experience working within schools or educational settings
    • Experience supporting young people with behavioural, emotional, SEND, or additional learning needs
    • A strong ability to break down barriers
  • Desirable:
    • HLTA qualification
    • Experience within Alternative Provision or specialist education settings
    • Experience delivering interventions or structured activities
    • Additional training in SEND, behaviour, or emotional regulation support
