We are currently exclusively partnering with a specialist alternative education provider seeking an experienced and values-driven Head of Provision to lead one of their educational settings. This is a senior leadership opportunity for an ambitious educational professional who is passionate about improving outcomes for young people facing barriers to mainstream education. You’ll play a pivotal role in leading day-to-day provision operations, embedding high educational standards, driving safeguarding culture, and supporting both learners and staff to thrive within a structured and nurturing environment. As Head of Provision, you will oversee the operational and educational leadership of a specialist provision, ensuring high standards across safeguarding, behaviour, learner outcomes, staff performance, and stakeholder engagement. Working closely with senior leadership teams, you’ll help shape provision culture while maintaining a strong focus on quality assurance, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the day-to-day management of the provision
  • Line managing teaching and support staff
  • Driving high standards in behaviour, attendance, and learner outcomes
  • Acting as Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) for the provision
  • Supporting curriculum implementation and quality assurance processes
  • Conducting learning walks, observations, and operational reviews
  • Managing stakeholder relationships with schools, local authorities, and families
  • Leading restorative practices, reintegration support, and learner interventions
  • Ensuring safeguarding, compliance, and operational procedures are consistently maintained

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

  • QTS or Level 5 teaching equivalent qualification
  • Leadership experience within an educational setting or strong leadership ability
  • Strong safeguarding knowledge and experience
  • Experience managing staff performance and professional development
  • Excellent organisational, communication, and conflict-resolution skills
  • Strong understanding of educational standards, behaviour systems, and learner outcomes

Desirable:

  • Experience within Alternative Provision, SEMH, or specialist education
  • DSL qualification or advanced safeguarding training
  • Experience supporting quality assurance or inspection readiness
  • Experience leading reintegration or intervention pathways
  • SEND-related training or qualifications
  • Experience working with local authorities and multi-agency teams
