Nurse Extern – NICU at Providence summary: The Nurse Extern in the NICU assists registered nurses in providing patient care and support under supervision in a neonatal intensive care environment. Description Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), the Extern assists patients with activities of daily living; provides a safe environment for patients by providing 1:1 observation and care; and, assists staff and patients with select procedures and health interventions, all in a family centered environment. The Extern can also assist in data collection activities (i.e. hand hygiene survalliance, personal protective equipment usage, etc). Providence caregivers are not simply valued – they’re invaluable. National Provider BLS – American Heart Association within 30 days of hire.
