Electrical Project Engineer

Manchester Area | Hybrid | £50,000

We are supporting a global engineering organisation that delivers complex, large-scale automation solutions within the airport sector. Due to continued growth across UK airport projects, they are looking to appoint an Electrical Project Engineer to join their UK engineering team.

This is a permanent role based in the Manchester area, offering a hybrid working model and long-term career development within a highly structured, international engineering environment.

The opportunity

You will work as part of an experienced and collaborative engineering team delivering technically challenging airport projects. The role offers exposure to full project lifecycles, clear engineering standards, and the opportunity to build deep expertise within automated and material handling systems.

This position suits an engineer who is methodical, quality-focused, and comfortable working within defined procedures while contributing to technically robust solutions.

Key responsibilities

  • Review project documentation and assess technical feasibility against applicable standards and regulations
  • Define engineering activities, deliverables, and planning in collaboration with project leadership
  • Design complete electrical control installations including power distribution, control cabinets, cabling, and field wiring
  • Perform power, cable, and selectivity calculations
  • Produce electrical control drawings and technical documentation for manufacturing, installation, and procurement
  • Participate in multidisciplinary technical decision-making and interface coordination
  • Liaise with customers, suppliers, and subcontractors while protecting project and business interests
  • Maintain high standards of quality control, documentation, and data management
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and ongoing professional development

About you

  • Experience in electrical design for industrial and low-voltage installations
  • Proficiency with engineering tools such as AutoCAD and EPLAN
  • A structured and logical approach to design and problem-solving
  • Knowledge of industrial communication networks such as Profinet, ASi Bus, or Profibus
  • Experience within automation, material handling, or complex industrial environments is highly advantageous
  • A background in electro-technology or energy technology is beneficial

Role details

  • Location: Manchester area
  • Working hours: 40 hours per week
  • Working format: Hybrid, 3 days office or onsite as required and 2 days from home
  • Salary: £45,000 to £50,000, with flexibility for the right candidate
