Provide Education is seeking a nurturing and enthusiastic EYFS Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Castleford. This is a short‑term supply position for the remainder of the academic year, supporting pupils within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). The role will involve working closely with the class teacher to support children at an important stage of their early development. The class may include pupils with additional needs, so experience supporting children with SEND in an EYFS or primary setting is highly desirable. The role may even continue into September 2026.

Role Requirements:

  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant in EYFS or a primary school
  • Understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework
  • Experience supporting early learning, play‑based development and phonics
  • Experience supporting children with SEND in a mainstream setting (desirable)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A patient, caring and proactive approach
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply through The Education Specialists
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent (required)

Responsibilities:

  • Support the class teacher in delivering engaging, play‑based learning activities
  • Work 1:1 and in small groups to support early development and learning
  • Support pupils with phonics, communication and early literacy skills
  • Help create a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment
  • Support children's social, emotional and behavioural development
  • Adapt support for pupils with SEND, including speech and language needs, ASD and developmental delays
  • Assist with classroom organisation and daily routines
