Primary School – SEND 1:1 Teaching Assistant (Year 6)

Provide Education are seeking a committed and experienced SEND Teaching Assistant to work on a 1:1 basis with a Year 6 pupil in one of our partnership primary schools in Halifax, Calderdale. This role is mornings only, Monday to Friday, and involves supporting a pupil with cognitive difficulties and additional learning needs who is currently working at a Year 1 academic level. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering tailored support to help the pupil access learning, build confidence and make measurable progress in a nurturing and structured environment.

Essential Requirements:

  • Previous experience supporting children with SEND on a 1:1 basis in a primary school setting
  • Strong understanding of phonics delivery
  • Experience using structured phonics programmes (the school uses Monster Phonics, similar to Little Wandle)
  • A patient, calm and consistent approach

The successful candidate will have:

  • Excellent spoken and written English
  • The ability to adapt learning to meet individual needs
  • Strong behaviour management skills
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to work closely with the class teacher and SENDCo
