The role provides leadership and supervision for the EWS Wellbeing & Community Navigation team, ensuring high-quality service delivery, safeguarding compliance, and achievement of performance targets. It includes staff management, training and development, rota and absence management, oversight of complex cases, and accurate use of digital systems while supporting young people and vulnerable adults.
Main duties of the job include:
- Provide daily supervision and guidance to EWS Wellbeing & Community Navigators and support staff, addressing operational queries as required.
- Offer support with complex cases and undertake client navigation when necessary.
- Monitor the quality of work to ensure performance targets and service standards are consistently met.
- Support the EWS SPA Manager in the overall coordination and delivery of the service.
Training and Development:
- Deliver induction and training for new team members alongside EWS Systems & Training Facilitator.
- Conduct annual appraisals and performance reviews in line with organisational policy.
- Support staff in developing personal development plans that reflect their job roles and career aspirations.
Management:
- Manage sickness absence in collaboration with the HR department, taking proactive steps to minimise absenteeism.
- Develop and maintain effective staff rotas to ensure optimal use of resources.
- Approve and sign off travel expenses and agency timesheets in accordance with organisational procedures.
- Assist with the monitoring and reporting of performance metrics and service outcomes.
Regulated Activity:
The role involves supporting individuals, including young people and vulnerable adults, through the Single Point of Access on an unsupervised basis. This may include instructing, assessing, providing advice and/or guidance on well-being, and requires full adherence to safeguarding and regulatory requirements. Ensure all interactions comply with relevant policies, procedures, and professional standards.
System Usage and Record-Keeping:
Accurately record and manage client information using systems such as SystmOne and Priority Digital Health. Ensure all data is kept confidential and complies with information governance standards.
General Duties:
Undertake any other duties delegated by the Team Manager or deemed appropriate to the role. Carry out any other functions commensurate with the post holder’s competencies and responsibilities.
Person specification:
Qualifications
- Relevant Foundation degree or professional equivalent
- Relevant Diploma plus relevant experience in health improvement and/or community development
- Making Every Contact Count training or willingness to undertake it
Knowledge and Experience
- Evidence of working in public health area
- Clear understanding of social pressuring
- Clear and demonstrable understanding of health inequalities and the main issues of health affecting the local community
- Experience in supervising a team
- Experience in data collection
