The Provide Stroke Rehabilitation Service supports 25 inpatient stroke beds and a well‑established Early Supported Discharge Service. We work in partnership with Acute Stroke Units, Social Care and the Stroke Association to provide seamless, high‑quality stroke rehabilitation to our patients. Our Nursing and Therapy teams, supported by Stroke Psychologists and Medical Practitioners, deliver a progressive, multidisciplinary service. The philosophy encourages staff participation at all levels and identifies opportunities for service and career development. This is an exciting opportunity to join a team of stroke‑skilled professionals.

The post holder will work across ESD and the Stroke Rehabilitation Unit in Brentwood, providing an excellent chance to work across the community pathway and focus on delivering the ICSS model 2022. We are looking for a motivated and dynamic Physiotherapist to join our team. The ideal candidate is passionate about enabling patients to regain independence and is a strong team player committed to delivering the highest standard of Stroke Rehabilitation.

Responsibilities:
  • Work as part of an integrated multi‑disciplinary team within the Stroke Rehabilitation service based at Brentwood Community Hospital.
  • Promote, maintain and develop a high‑quality, efficient and effective physiotherapy service for patients referred to the Mid Essex Stroke Rehabilitation service, in accordance with the team's philosophy and operational policies.
  • Manage a complex caseload within stroke care using knowledge‑based clinical reasoning, critical thinking, reflection and analysis to support assessments and deliver a client‑centred, goal‑orientated rehabilitation programme.
  • Actively participate in specific clinical projects, audit and review of the stroke service as agreed and supported by the Team Leader.
  • Provide supervision to therapy assistants and physiotherapy students on placement in the service.
  • Contribute to induction and training for junior staff, therapy assistants, students, other disciplines and carers.
  • Be actively involved in continuing professional development.
