We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated ADHD Non-Medical Prescriber to lead and further develop the ADHD pathway within our Community Paediatric Service. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled clinician to play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality, evidence-based care for children and young people (CYP) with ADHD and associated neurodevelopmental needs. The post holder will provide highly specialist clinical leadership in ADHD assessment, medication management, physical health monitoring, and ongoing care planning.
Working as an autonomous practitioner within a multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to all aspects of the ADHD pathway, including screening, risk assessment, transition planning, and service development. The successful candidate will act as a specialist source of pharmaceutical and medicines management expertise across children and young people’s services, supporting clinicians and wider system partners. You will play a key role in improving patient outcomes, enhancing patient safety, and ensuring safe, effective, and evidence-based use of medicines.

Main duties of the job:- Delivering the role of highly specialist ADHD Non-Medical Prescriber to lead on the ADHD pathway in our community paediatric service.
- Providing specialist expert pharmaceutical information and advice to multidisciplinary teams (e.g., nurses, school nurses, health visitors and consultants) particularly within children and young people services and where applicable to others involved in a patient’s care.
- Leading on and providing complex medicines management advice and specialist direction within services for children and young people with ADHD.
- Focusing on outcomes delivering improved benefits and value for patients through improved patient experience, increased patient safety and mitigating of risks related to medicines.
- Supporting and contributing to clinical audits.
- Working with quality and patient safety teams to review quality and risk management issues related to pharmacy and medicine management.
- Responsible for leading the ADHD medication service/pathway delivery.
- Accountability for clinical standards and outcomes.
- Provide input into IC-wide medicines strategy.
- Influence over service performance/KPIs.
- To contribute to clinical governance and risk management related to medicines across the organisation. This includes undertaking audits to their completion (i.e., full audit cycle), making recommendations and following these up to the completion through discussion with the relevant senior staff outside the Medicines Management Team.
- Lead on identified patient safety alerts in addressing, implementing, and monitoring these.
- Identify learning from medication incidents/errors and as a result be active in identifying and embedding improvements to medicines use.
- Undertake risk assessment and review these.
- Independent and team working in both a clinical and managerial role.
- Delivery of ADHD care including ADHD medication management and physical health assessments.
- Show initiative, be adaptable and able to follow direction, and be a good team player with excellent communication skills.
- Provide leadership on and contribute clinically to all aspects of the ADHD pathway including screening, assessment, psychoeducation, medication management, behavioural management, care planning, risk assessment and management, and transition to adult services.
- Contribute to further ADHD pathway development.
- Undertake appropriate training to comply with the job role.
- Be responsible for own continuing professional development in line with professional requirements this includes identifying own learning needs.
- Participate in regular clinical supervision and peer review of work to ensure consistent clinical standards and to help develop individual pharmacy staff.
- MPharm, BSc Nursing, or equivalent
- Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council or Nursing and Midwifery council
- Post graduate clinical certificate/diploma or equivalent
- Member of the RPS or RCN
- NVQ level 2 or equivalent standard of literacy and numeracy
