Senior Product & Sourcing Manager – Underwear / Innerwear / Lingerie

The Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Product & Sourcing specialist with genuine underwear / innerwear category expertise to help build and develop a growing multi-brand category.

This is not primarily a design role and it is not a conventional Product Developer position.

We are looking for someone who has already built, sourced and commercialised underwear or innerwear ranges, understands the product in detail, knows how to work directly with specialist factories, and can manage the complete journey from initial range concept through to production-ready product.

You should understand how product, sourcing, factories, costing, pricing and margin come together to create a commercially successful range.

This is an opportunity to join an entrepreneurial, multi-brand fashion business with genuine scope to help shape the category and support its future growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage commercial underwear / innerwear ranges from concept through to production.
  • Build clear range architecture and product hierarchy across core, seasonal and fashion-led products.
  • Define product segmentation, SKU structure, packs / multipacks and pricing architecture.
  • Work closely with Design and Commercial teams to translate concepts into commercially viable products.
  • Select and develop appropriate fabrics, trims, elastics, components and packaging.
  • Identify suitable specialist factories and manufacturing partners.
  • Manage supplier and factory relationships directly.
  • Lead product costing, target costing, cost engineering and factory price negotiations.
  • Ensure products achieve required quality, margin and retail price objectives.
  • Manage sampling, product development and production approval.
  • Assess factory capability and identify the right manufacturing partners for different products.
  • Resolve technical, quality, costing and manufacturing issues.
  • Support future category and licensing opportunities with specialist product and sourcing expertise.

Experience & Expertise Required

You should have strong hands-on experience within underwear, innerwear, lingerie, loungewear or sleepwear, with knowledge of:

  • Range building and range architecture
  • Product hierarchy and segmentation
  • Core versus fashion product
  • Entry, mid and premium price positioning
  • Packs and multipacks
  • Men's and/or women's underwear
  • Fabrics and fabric performance
  • Garment construction and fit
  • Trims, elastics and components
  • Product costing and target costing
  • Wholesale and retail pricing
  • Margin management
  • Factory negotiation
  • International sourcing
  • Supplier and vendor management
  • Sampling and production
  • Quality and manufacturing problem-solving

Strong lingerie expertise would be particularly valuable.

However, genuine lingerie specialists are relatively rare, so candidates with substantial commercial underwear / innerwear expertise should also be highly relevant.

Factory & Commercial Capability

Factory knowledge is an important part of this position.

You should be comfortable

  • Identifying appropriate factories for different product categories.
  • Assessing factory capabilities.
  • Working directly with manufacturers and suppliers.
  • Negotiating price, lead times and production terms.
  • Balancing product specifications against target cost and retail price.
  • Understanding the relationship between cost, wholesale price, retail price and margin.
  • Troubleshooting development and manufacturing problems.
  • Taking commercial responsibility for getting the product from concept into production.
  • The Profile

The key differentiator is straightforward

You have personally helped build and deliver commercial underwear / innerwear ranges and understand how to source and manufacture them.

This is unlikely to suit someone who is primarily

  • A pure designer.
  • A general apparel Product Developer with little underwear exposure.
  • A sourcing administrator.
  • A buyer without direct factory experience.
  • A salesperson without product and sourcing expertise.

We are particularly interested in people who can demonstrate real ownership of product development, sourcing, factories and costing, rather than simply having worked alongside those functions.

Why Join?

This is an opportunity to

  • Help build a strategically important and growing product category.
  • Work within a multi-brand fashion environment.
  • Influence how future ranges and category opportunities are developed.
  • Have significant ownership and visibility.
  • Work directly with senior decision-makers.
  • Help establish the product, sourcing and manufacturing foundations required for future growth.

The environment is entrepreneurial, commercial and fast-moving, and will suit someone who enjoys taking ownership and making things happen.
