The Opportunity
We are supporting a growing, well-funded international fashion group in the build-out of its underwear and loungewear category. This is a critical design-led role, working closely with senior leadership to shape the category from the ground up. This is not a purely creative position. The role requires deep category expertise, strong commercial awareness, and the ability to design with credibility at a global brand level.
The Role
You will take ownership of the underwear and loungewear design direction, supporting both product creation and strategic decision-making. Your work will directly influence business plans, range architecture, and presentations to external stakeholders.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading design for underwear and loungewear across core and seasonal ranges
- Building clear, commercially grounded range architecture
- Translating design concepts into ranges that make sense financially and operationally
- Supporting business planning and category strategy with credible design input
- Working closely with cross-functional teams (commercial, sourcing, operations)
- Ensuring designs align with brand positioning and external sign-off requirements
- Providing senior-level insight into fit, fabric, construction, and cost implications
Required Experience
- Strong, hands-on experience in underwear, lingerie, or adjacent intimate categories
- Background working with premium or global fashion brands operating at scale
- Proven ability to design ranges that balance aesthetics, margin, and volume
- Comfortable working in environments where design must support commercial strategy
- Able to present ideas clearly and confidently to senior stakeholders
- Experience contributing to or shaping category business plans
- High level of professionalism and maturity — able to adapt to feedback and brand governance
Contract & Structure
Freelance role with potential for permanent engagement. Must be free of contractual or brand conflicts. Competitive compensation, aligned to experience and value delivered.
Why This Role
This is a rare opportunity to play a foundational role in building a category, rather than inheriting one. The right person will be trusted as a design authority, valued for their judgement, and given visibility at the highest level of the business.
