Our client, a leading sportswear brand house, is looking to hire an experienced Kidswear Designer to join their creative team. This is a key role responsible for designing seasonal collections across multiproduct apparel for kids aged 1.5–8 years and 5–11 years.
Key Responsibilities
- Research seasonal trends, key items, colours, fabrics, and themes in line with brand direction.
- Develop original design concepts, sketches, and technical specifications aligned to seasonal briefs.
- Create mood boards, trend boards, and visual research to support the design process.
- Maintain a strong knowledge of kidswear trends and historical references to guide silhouettes, fabrications, and detailing.
- Work closely with the Head of Design and Sales Team to build commercial, cohesive ranges each season.
- Manage detailed design and development records including fabrication and print details for each style.
- Prepare accurate tech packs and spec sheets for handover to production teams and suppliers.
- Attend fit sessions, make amendments to specs, and communicate changes to relevant teams and partners.
- Ensure all work aligns with range plans and critical path deadlines.
- Support seasonal content creation for catalogues and presentation tools.
- Travel occasionally for supplier meetings, brand collaborations, or client visits.
Ideal Candidate
- 3+ years’ experience designing multiproduct childrenswear (ages 1.5–8 and 5–11).
- Strong skills in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Microsoft Office.
- Proven ability to take collections from concept and research through to final spec and development.
- Confident in trend research and translating market insights into commercial product.
- Excellent technical drawing skills and attention to detail, both hand-drawn and digital.
- Solid understanding of garment construction, fabric types, and pattern cutting principles.
- Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- A self-starter with strong communication and collaboration skills.
