We are pleased to announce an exciting opportunity for a trainee solicitor to join our specialist family law practice under the leadership of highly acclaimed barrister, Dr Charlotte Proudman at Proudmans. This role is offered as a training contract from the outset, providing a pathway into qualification within a firm dedicated to family law with a focus on domestic abuse.
This training contract is suited to an individual with a genuine passion for family law and a strong commitment to supporting often vulnerable clients. You will work closely with solicitors and counsel across a broad range of complex and sensitive matters, gaining hands-on experience from an early stage. The structure of the programme over two years ensures that you are immersed in client work quickly, with meaningful responsibility and exposure.
Mandatory Requirements- At least one year experience as a family law paralegal in private law children matters working directly with private clients. Please do not apply if you do not have this experience.
- Proficiency in legal case management systems.
- Strong experience drafting client care letters, correspondence, invoices, court applications, and briefing counsel.
- Familiarity with locating court listings via CourtServe and preparing court bundles.
- Experience liaising directly with clients, the Court, the counsel, and assisting with case management.
- Experience in time recording and billing/invoicing.
- Experience drafting witness statements and/or Scott Schedules.
- Ability to take detailed attendance notes.
- Must be based in/around London and able to travel for court hearings when required.
- Willingness to work primarily remotely at present, with in-person attendance as needed.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail, organisation, and time-management skills.
- Commitment to excellent client care and a clear understanding of safeguarding responsibilities.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage competing deadlines.
- A genuine commitment to trauma-informed practice.
- Experience using the CLIO case management system and exposure to financial remedy proceedings would be advantageous.
