Reports to: Deputy Manager / Registered Manager
Location: Community-based
Hours: 37.5 hours per week – 07:00hrs to 15:15hrs (45 mins unpaid break), Monday to Friday.

You shall also be required to participate in the out of hours on-call rota. You will receive a payment of ÂŁ183.00 for each week during which you are on call, which will be no more than 15 hours each week.

Mileage paid at 30p per mile.

Role Purpose

The Senior Care Worker plays a key frontline leadership role within the domiciliary care service. Alongside delivering high-quality, person-centred care, the post holder will support and mentor care staff, contribute to quality assurance processes, complete care plan assessments, and liaise with health and social care professionals to ensure coordinated, effective care.

The role also involves meeting prospective private clients and their families, acting as a positive ambassador for the service and supporting business growth through professional, compassionate engagement.

Key Responsibilities

Care Delivery

  • Deliver high‑quality, person‑centred care in line with individual care plans, risk assessments, and company policies
  • Promote dignity, independence, and choice at all times
  • Accurately complete care notes and records in a timely manner

Work Shadowing & Mentoring

  • Support new care staff through work shadowing, mentoring, and on‑the‑job guidance
  • Act as a positive role model for best practice, professionalism, and values
  • Provide constructive feedback to support staff development and confidence

Quality & Audits

  • Respond to audit findings and support improvements in care delivery
  • Work collaboratively with management to address any identified shortfalls
  • Promote good record keeping and compliance with policies and procedures

Care Plan Assessments & Reviews

  • Carry out care plan assessments and reviews, gathering accurate and person‑centred information
  • Identify changes in needs and elevate concerns appropriately
  • Ensure care plans remain accurate, relevant, and reflective of current needs

MDT & Professional Liaison

  • Liaise with multidisciplinary professionals including GPs, district nurses, therapists, social workers, and other health and social care colleagues
  • Communicate relevant information to the wider care team to ensure coordinated care delivery
  • Contribute to reviews, updates, and shared decision‑making where appropriate

Private Clients & Business Development

  • Meet prospective private clients and their families to discuss care needs and services
  • Represent the organisation professionally, acting as a frontline ambassador and sales representative for the service
  • Build trust and confidence through clear communication, empathy, and knowledge of the service
  • Feedback client needs, preferences, and opportunities to management

Skills & Experience

  • Experience working in domiciliary care or a similar care setting
  • Confidence in liaising with professionals and families
  • Ability to mentor and support colleagues
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good organisational and time‑management skills

Qualifications

  • NVQ/QCF Level 3 in Health & Social Care (or working towards) – desirable
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle – essential
