About the Role – More Than Care, It’s the Journey Too

As a Rural Community Carer, you’ll provide high-quality care in people’s homes while travelling through some of Devon’s most beautiful countryside. Driving is a key part of this role, and we’re looking for carers who are confident navigating country lanes.

  • In early mornings, evenings, and at night
  • In all weather conditions—from frosty lanes to summer storms
  • Across remote rural locations where your visit truly makes the difference

Responsibilities

  • Providing person-centred care in customers’ homes—supporting with personal care, medication, meals, and mobility
  • Offering companionship and reassurance to customers and their families
  • Promoting independence, dignity, and well-being in every visit
  • Keeping accurate records of care delivered
  • Driving safely to and from appointments across rural routes, ensuring you arrive reliably and ready to support

Working Patterns

Our care calls typically run between 7am and 10pm, so flexibility across these times is essential. You’ll also be required to work alternate weekends as part of your contracted role.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Recognised Health & Social Care qualifications (e.g. NVQ/Diploma Level 2 or 3) are desirable, or a willingness to work towards them.
  • A caring, compassionate nature and commitment to professional standards
  • Confident driving experience on rural roads, country lanes, and in all weather
  • Flexibility to work shifts between 7am–10pm (including alternate weekends)
  • Excellent communication skills and a friendly, reliable attitude
  • Previous care experience is helpful, but full training and development will be provided
  • A valid driving licence and access to a reliable car
