Job Description & Responsibilities
As a Live-In Carer, you’ll live in a client’s home and provide round-the-clock support at a location in Ilfracombe, Devon. You’ll play a vital role in helping people maintain their independence and dignity, in the comfort of their own home. The working hours are from 6pm on Friday to 9am on Wednesday, each week.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Personal & Health Care
- Assisting with personal care: washing, dressing, toileting, mobility, and continence support.
- Supporting medication administration and monitoring health changes.
- Helping with nutrition: preparing meals, feeding support, hydration, and mealtime companionship.
- Using equipment such as hoists to support independence and safety.
- Promoting both physical and mental well-being through activities and companionship.
- Daily Living & Housekeeping
- Maintaining a clean, tidy and safe environment: housework, laundry, bed changes.
- Preparing meals and snacks, setting the table or tray, and cleaning up.
- Shopping and managing small errands or administrative tasks.
- Greeting visitors with courtesy and professionalism, respecting the client’s home.
- Relationships & Communication
- Building strong, supportive and respectful relationships while maintaining professional boundaries.
- Acting as a liaison with the client’s family, healthcare professionals and River Exe Healthcare management.
- Escalating any concerns promptly and maintaining accurate, confidential records.
- Supporting the client’s spiritual, emotional and social needs, encouraging hobbies, friendships, and community connection.

Requirements
- Must have previous experience within a care capacity, whether this be community, care home, hospital or similar, or perhaps caring for a family member.
- Must be a driver with a valid driving licence.
