The Transitions Adult Social Care (TASC) Team is a countywide social care team within Integrated Adult Social Care, with strong links to Children’s Services and Education. The team has grown significantly due to a 5-year development plan and comprises two Team Managers, an Advanced Social Worker, Social Workers, Social Care Assessors, Occupational Therapists, and Business/Management Information Support Officers.
The TASC team works to the Care Act principles where transition refers to the planned process of moving a young person to adult services to promote independent living skills. We work with young people from the ages of 14 to 18, aiming to facilitate their ability to live and enjoy their early adult life as independently as possible.
We are looking to recruit a full-time Social Worker to join our team, seeking someone with experience of working with individuals to promote independence. The ideal candidate will be skilled in partnership working and possess strong legal literacy, including Mental Capacity Act principles, to achieve positive outcomes for young people. Flexibility, adaptability, and a commitment to continuous improvement in service delivery are essential.
This is a countywide position, with a primary area of need in north Devon, and potential travel outside that area. The Nichols Centre in Exeter is the main TASC office base, but the workbase for the successful candidate can be the local office to where they live.
We have implemented the first phase of a new Social Worker Career Pathway within our Adults Services, with vacancies available at the Social Worker (Grade F) or Experienced Social Worker (Grade G) levels. Our roles align with the national Professional Capability Framework (PCF) for Social Workers, providing a robust structure for standardising professional capabilities and a clear career pathway.
If shortlisted for interview, your experience, skills, and knowledge will be assessed against the PCF domains. If found appointable, this will determine your appointment to either the Social Worker (Grade F) or Experienced Social Worker (Grade G) level. Those appointed as a Social Worker will receive ongoing learning and support from their line manager, enabling them to evidence incremental learning and submit an application for progression to the Experienced Social Worker (Grade G) via a portfolio of supporting evidence against the PCF framework.
We are committed to your continuous professional development, providing excellent support and supervision, with regular opportunities to discuss and reflect on your practice with your line manager and peers. We offer 26 days annual leave, plus Bank Holidays, rising incrementally to 31 days after 5 years’ service. Flexible working opportunities are available, including part-time hours, flexitime, compressed working hours, and homeworking (subject to the needs of the role).
