About the Team

The Adult Emergency Duty Service delivers a responsive and essential service to manage urgent situations outside of standard working hours across Devon. This includes supporting adults with care and support needs, responding to safeguarding concerns, and assisting adults at risk. The team is small but highly collaborative, consisting of:

  • 3 Social Care Assessors
  • 3 Advanced Social Workers
  • 1 Team Manager

This role operates on a 9-week rolling rota, including evenings and weekends.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has proven experience within an adult social care setting
  • Demonstrates a proactive, solution‑focused mindset
  • Has strong decision‑making skills, particularly in assessing and managing risk
  • Is confident working independently while also contributing effectively as part of a team
  • Can appropriately escalate concerns and collaborate with colleagues during shifts
  • Possesses excellent interpersonal and communication skills, enabling positive engagement with adults, carers, professionals, and partner agencies
  • Maintains accurate and high‑quality case recording

A full UK driving licence is essential, as the role may require community visits across Devon.
