Overview
As a community care assistant, you’ll provide care and support to individuals living in their own homes.
You could work with adults of any age who have learning disabilities, physical impairments, dementia, or other mental health issues, helping them live as independently as possible in their home.
You’ll support people who need social and physical activities, personal care, mobility, meal planning, and medication support.
Compensation
The average hourly rate is around £11. You could earn between £10.42 and £12 per hour, with opportunities to progress and see your wage increase over time.

You will complete an induction and have the opportunity to complete the new Level 2 Care Certificate.
Continuing professional development options include specialisations in dementia care, end‑of‑life care, autism care, learning disabilities and mental health.
Apprenticeship routes are available at Level 2 Adult Care Worker, Level 3 Lead Adult Care Worker, Level 4 Lead Practitioner in Adult Care, and further pathways to roles such as Nursing Associate or Occupational Therapist.
