Learn to Live offers a personalised, bespoke provision responsive to the needs of the individual. It is an inclusive and different specialist service, coordinated and facilitated by our experienced team. Our focus is to enable our young adults to live the life they want to live within their local community.

Learn to Live recognises that our staff team is our greatest asset and as well as effectively supporting our clients to develop and progress their skill set, we are equally committed to developing our team. We are looking for someone who can make a real difference to the lives of our young people. Candidates must be warm and friendly, with a strong work ethic, a positive attitude and a genuine passion for providing high-quality care and support. The successful candidate will be self-motivated, well-organised and able to work both independently and as part of a team. Experience in working in this field, in either a paid or voluntary capacity, is desirable but not essential for this role, as training will be provided for the successful candidate. What is most important to us is that you are a kind, caring and compassionate individual who enjoys interacting with young people and assisting them with their daily living activities. The successful candidate will be contracted to work for 42 weeks, plus 2 training days per year.

Responsibilities and duties:

  • Encourage our young people with their problem-solving and independent living skills.
  • Assist our young people to participate in social and recreational activities with their peers either onsite or within the wider community.
  • Encourage and support the development of our young people’s personal skills through hobbies and interests.
  • Teach life skills such as shopping, cooking, using public transport and household budgeting.
  • Observe and monitor physical and emotional well-being, and promptly report any changes or concerns by the appropriate recording channels.
  • Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to adult safeguarding and child protection, health.
