ENCYCLIS, (formally known as Covanta Europe), is a leader in the energy from waste industry and we are looking for our next talented individual to join us on our continuous mission of achieving brilliant things! We generate sustainable electricity for homes and businesses from non-recyclable waste. The ash from the process is also recycled to become building materials, and metals are recovered for re-use. Our facilities are some of the most advanced in the world! They boast new, state of the art equipment and tools, ensuring safety is at the heart and its people are set up for success.
Where you will be working: Encyclis Newhurst Energy Recovery Facility (ERF) is adjacent to the M1 Motorway at Shepshed, Leicestershire and just 30 minutes from both Leicester and Nottingham city centres. This stunning single-line facility, which has been operational since 2023, has the capacity to process 350,000 tonnes of residual waste per year, diverting it from landfill, while generating sufficient electricity to power 80,000 homes.
Responsibilities:
The Opportunity: Our Day Operators play a very important part in ensuring the facility functions day to day. They are the fantastic individuals who ensure waste deliveries happen effectively and efficiently throughout the day, so that we have the waste material we need to burn and generate electricity. To ensure this happens, some of the duties you will be involved with include:
- Weighing the lorries that come through our gates on our Weighbridge
- Managing and monitoring traffic in our tipping hall
- Carrying out visual inspections of the waste
- Ensuring you and your team are working to safe working standards at all times, such as wearing the correct PPE and reporting potential hazards
- Carrying out routine inspections of mobile plant
- Keeping records and logs up to date as required
- Supervising other consumable deliveries at the site and ensuring they go to the right places
- Mobile Plant operations (including road sweeper, loading shovel, forklift, telescopic handler). Training will be provided for this if you have no previous experience or current tickets.
This is a shift position, working on a rotational basis with a mixture of early, middle and late shifts between the hours of 6:30am - 10pm. There will be requirement for an occasional Saturday shift to be worked, on a rotational basis.
